Distringas
A distringas is a writ which allows a sheriff to seize chattels to compel a person to pay money they owe. I hope that makes sense. Anyway, today's word attracted a good variety of invented meanings, all a lot less complicated than the real one. The winner on the poll, again, was Code Cutie.

Distriingas- This is a disease that cats can get. It causes the cat to think that everything is wrapped in string. The cat then crazily attacks everything including people! It is quite humorous to watch...but painful if you get bitten.
Distringas. The state of denial that pet owners enter when their pet has worms. "When Bob and Sally's dog Geremy showed symptoms of having worms, they ignored it and were in a perpetual state of distringas. Even the neighbors tried to tell them, but they wouldn't listen. The story does not have a happy ending."
Kids in tough urban neighborhoods learned their grammer in the streets, not the classroom. Pronounciation included a lot of "deese and dem" and "dis and dat". Such is the case with "distringas", which properly pronounced is "this string as".
