Calumny

Calumny is a false charge or a slanderous report against someone. I really enjoyed the invented meanings on the blog today. Well done to Madame C, whose meaning was the favourite among voters on the poll.

It is a disaster or series of mishaps that makes one exclaim 'Oh lummy.'

It's that feeling of anxiety and nervousness, accompanied by sweaty palms and tingling on the back of the neck.

Denny recognised the creeping feeling of calumny as he spotted the silhouette of the Atkins house. He turned up his collar and walked faster.

Calumny is that moment of quiet with a child sitting contentedly on your lap (no wriggling). It's one of those moments when a child really is an "angel."

Another calumny moment is when you look at your sleeping child and your heart bursts with love with the irony of her "being a perfect angel" while asleep.

Calumny is when you ascribe the characteristics of one animal to another animal.

Gemma loved Gabriel her pigeon toed cat.

A Calumny is the calamity that ensues at an Alumni party when something such as the following happens......Brad's girlfriend Chloe walks into the party on the arm of Brad's arch rival, Duke, Brad sees red and the fists start flying, beer kegs get thrown and general mayhem follows. Needless to say that after 10 minutes of chaos, Brad and Chloe are back together, Duke and Brad have become best friends and the party goes until 5 the next morning.
