Have fun with a new word each day. I'll choose a word. You make up a meaning.

Jobbernowl
A jobbernowl is a stupid person, colloquially speaking. There were some interesting invented meanings on the blog and two word imps share the honours according to the voting. Well done to Odalisque and Sonnjea B.

Jobbernow: A shocking realization
It was quite a jobbernow -- and certainly a sign of divine providence -- to learn that college students at Shanley University admitted to binge drinking when stressed by studying.
A jobbernowl is that mournful wail you hear when you're alone at night in the woods. Maybe it's a wolf, maybe it's the ghost of a long-forgotten murder victim buried out in the hills. Either way, a jobbernowl always sends chills along your spine.
a Jobbernowl is actually a character from a children's book called 'The Jabberwocky'. The Jobbernowl is an owl like creature that has the unfortunate habit of slobbering like a 20 stone Bull Mastif every time it tries to hoot.
A jobbernowl is a rare type of owl, found only in the highlands of Scotland. Instead of making the usual "tweet-tawoo" most owls make, the jobbernowl calls says "jobbernowl-jobbbernowl"
Jobbernowl refers to any utterance where you think you are talking to someone but you are actually talking to thin air. Jobbernowls often occur as people think of a final comment or question in a conversation only to realise the other person didn't heard a word of it. If any bystanders have noticed your jobbernowl it creates the awkward situation of having to decide whether to repeat yourself and risk the embarrassment of a double jobbernowl. Some linguists argue that jobbernowl originated in Northern England and is a variation of jabbernowt, but this is highly contentious. While a jobbernowl is most commonly an accidental occurence there are occasions where a deliberate jobbernowl might be used. 'Roberta awoke in the dead of night to the sound of footfalls accompanied by loud slurping. "Is anyone there?" she called fearfully, praying that she had just uttered a jobbernowl.'
A jobbernowl is the wisest of all owls. It enjoys literature and wearing beautiful dresses in spring time. A unique feature of the jobbernowl is that it is awake during the day and asleep at night.
1. I choose an obscure dictionary word.
2. You invent a wacky meaning and add it as a comment.
3. After a certain time I list the true meaning and choose a winner for the invented meaning.
There are no prizes, just lots of fun!
Remember, children use this site too.
I am a children's author who has had a handful of books published by trade publishers. They're in book shops and libraries. I've also had a sackful of books published by educational publishers. These are mainly found in schools. I love words and that's why I invented this blog site.

A household task that doesn't quite need to be done immediately but can't quite be postponed until later.

one of those really bad singers on American Idol, the ones they make fun of.
