Bibelot

A bibelot (pronouced beblo) is a small curio or trinket. Now that could be a useful word for impressing antique dealers! The invented meanings have been judged by the voters and Belle Etoile has come up trumps again.

It is, of course, how one would describe the sound emanating from a traffic jam.

As she sat in stationary traffic, Felicity found the rising bibelot was really giving her a headache.

A bibelot is the metal band around the end of a pencil that attaches the eraser to the pencil.

You can tell Jane's nervous about her presentation because she chewed her eraser all the way down to the bibelot.

Bibelot (n.) The collection of various sized baby bibs one stores in their kitchen that have long since fit their children.

Does this one even fit her anymore?" Ike inquired about his two year old, as he pinched a newborn bib and raised it in the air. "Just go ahead and add it to the bibelot, I don't have time to go through those right now" his wife replied.

Bibelots are the fresh, popping bubbles you see on the surface of a pond just as you turn the corner during a country walk.

A Bibelot is a recently discovered shellfish. It is found in very deep waters off the coast of France and has been thus named due to the fact that when one is eating a Bibelot, its tremendously tasty juices tend to run down your chin and all over the front of your shirt....hence, it is necessary to wear a bib whilst eating a plate of Bibelots.
