Autarky

Autarky is self-sufficiency - quite a big leap from the invented meanings suggested by our bloggers today. I had a good laugh reading through the meanings, spelling mistakes and all. Quite a tonic! Belle Etoile was the belle of the poll today. Tres bien!

Autarky is the feeling you get when you do something just because you think you should but really you don't want to. You end up feeling a tad resentful, but slightly virtuous all at the same time.

"Sara was feeling autarky because she had felt obliged to help Steve hang out the washing even though she hadn't sat down all day"

Autarky (n.) - the incorrect usage of vocubarly due to a hearing problem in the speaker.

Larry's autarky really comes out with words beginning in "c". In fact, last week he nearly caused me to lose my breath from laughing so hard when he said that he'd rather just stay home for the evening so as not to constipate matters further.

I have problems with my SHs and CHs. I like belle etoile's definition.

Autarky is the problem you get when you get a "lemon," mostly in reference to a car.

Mr. Jones bought a used car for his son, but the autarky had one problem after another. He will never buy another vehicle "as is" again.

Did I really spell vocabulary like that? I must have a bad case of scritarky (which is autarky specific to writing).

sorry to constipate the situation even more, but i think an autarky is a genetic cross between a tarantula, a turkey, and an australian shepherd.

i'm fairly conceived on that.
