Dreamhole

A dreamhole is the name for a hole in the wall of a tower that lets in light. Thanks to those who humoured me with invented meanings for dreamhole. It was interesting to see the range of ideas and I'm pleased to announce that Sonnjea B topped the poll with her meaning. Great work, Sonnjea.

Dreamhole is actually the pit you punch in your pillow when it's hot and you are restless and tossing and turning and can't get to sleep. So you keep rearranging your pillow trying to get comfortable. Sorry, a very unromantic definition for a very romantic sounding word. While on the subject of not being able to sleep. My #1 tip: when I can't get to sleep I turn myself around in the bed i.e. put my head at the feet end and my feet at the head end. This method has failed me only once in the last 15 years.

P.S. my #2 tip for getting to sleep: when it's really hot, like it is in NZ at the moment, and your feet feel hot and restless, like mine are at the moment: when I go to bed I put my feet up on a pillow or 2 - I forget my feet are there and go straight to sleep...
oops, this sounds a bit like a Woman's Weekly handy hints column -

No worries. Feel free to offer hints as and when you wish. Your ideas sound great.

Did you ever wake up in the middle of a very nice dream.....try to go back to sleep and resume the dream? But you can't get it back. Where did it go?

Like a "black hole" in space, which consumes all matter, your sleepy time musings have slipped into a dreamhole.

A dreamhole is when your mind has wandered off while someone is talking to you, and suddenly you realize they're waiting for your reply. You have no idea what they were talking about OR what the appropriate response would be. You're too embarrassed to say, "Sorry, what was that? I was in a dreamhole for a moment." So instead you say, "I totally agree," and hope they didn't just say something about giving away crack in elementary schools.

Oddly enough dreamhole actually describes the absence of dreams. This usually occurs in people who are never able to obtain REM sleep such as mothers of newborns, people with sleep apnea, and wild three year olds.

Dreamhole - this is a water hole in which all the characters in your dreams drink from and bathe in.

A Dreamhole is where all those continuing dreams sit in a holding pattern. You know the ones that you seem to have over and over again on a regular basis.....they kind of end up waiting in a big waiting area that is called the Dreamhole for the next time your subconscious summons up that particular dream.

Dreamhole is actually a golfing term. It's similar to the big fish that got away. Golfers come home with tales of the "dreamhole" where they shot the perfect birdie or eagle or something like that. Sadly, the tale is full of half truths and the dreamhole is simply that, a dream.

a dreamhole is a hole in the wall that looks into a world of your imagination, a world of wonder or choas. it's made by drawing a circle on the wall with a piece of chalk and pushing the middle of the circle through to the other side. if you make the dreamhole big enough you might be able to squeeze through
