Yaffle

A yaffle is actually a green woodpecker. I preferred my meaning as well as those suggested by the word imps, but there's no changing it. The favourite on the poll was suggested by realityjunkie. Well done again RJ.

A yaffle is a raffle aimed at the youth of today, with prizes like a new Wi console, some PS3 games, and a few branded plaid shirts.

Yaffle is a new term for the lingering cough associated with swine flu. Most common in children, this cough last for weeks and sounds very much like a barking dog, or maybe grunting swine.

A yaffle is a gossip. The word appears in the Scriptor Dictionary of Witchcraft (publ. 1678) - "And ye yaffles were ducked in ye pond until such time as theye became quieted."

A yaffle is one of those appliances you find in your kitchen cupboard. It seemed like a good idea at the time, but after an intensive 2-3 week usage period, the novelty wears off and they then sit there gathering dust. Yaffles include food dehydrators, pop-corn makers, toasted sandwich makers, waffle machines, and George Foreman grills, to name but a few. Some may consider SodaStream to be a yaffle, but as I use mine frequently, I don't consider this to be the case.
