Wanderoo
Your meanings for wanderoo were funny and very well received. However, it's really something far more ordinary. A wanderoo is a monkey from Ceylon. That's giving away how old my dictionary is, but there you go. It was another triple win on the poll today. So congratulations to Scriptor Senex, Thinks! and silver_flight who each shared one third of the vote.

The Wanderoo is a marsupial that is now assumed to be extinct. Closely resembling the Lemming of N Europe the Wanderoo used to travel great distances and also had an unfortunate habit of running off cliffs and committing mass suicide.
The last Wanderoo was seen heading North from Ayres Rock in the 1920s...
A wanderoo is a lost kangaroo wandering around Australia.
Wanderoo is the song by Abba which won the Eurovision Song Contest in the seventies. "Wanderoo couldn't get back if I wanidoo".....etc.
Herky
It's virtual wanderlust. Where the ordinary sort sees a person getting the urge to travel, this variety simply encourages either a deeply involved daydream or a long stint on Second Life.
By the way, happy anniversary, WordImp! I got married four years ago on November 5th. It's a good time of year :-)
