Pharisaical

The real meaning of pharisaical is hypocritically self-righteous. Not something I'd like on my CV. Some of this week's entries were quite close to the real meaning of pharisaical. The voters picked Clare's meaning as the best this time round. Congratulations, Clare. Very imaginative.

A Pharisaical is like a pestle and mortar used by early chemists to make their medicinal potions.

"Pass me the pharisaical, I need to grind up some ingredients."

Pharisaical is a used to describe a person that is very enthuthiastic about something, evangelical infact as they are always trying to get everybody else as enthused as them. Often not noticing that they have infact bored the pants of their friends.

David was pharisaical about fly fishing and had not noticed that the whole pub had were infact discussing last night's edition of x-factor.

A pharisaical is a homunculus, a 'mini-me' if you will, carried by pharoahs. They created them using Pyramid Technology that we have now lost. The pharisaical gave advice on day-to-day matters and allowed Pharoah to look at affairs of state from more than one viewpoint.

'Ptolemy Aulates was rarely seen without his phariscal on his shoulder.'

Pharisaical is the type of idiotic answer you get when you ask a rhetorical question.

Rhetorical question: How many times do I have to ask you to put your dishes in the dishwasher?

Pharisaical answer: 4 million, eight hundred and eleven.

Rhetorical question: Where are your manners?!

Pharisaical answer: In my tummy.

A pharisaical person is one who is always trying to impose their own rules and regulations on another.

"Nobody was surprised when he became a headmaster as he had always been rather pharisaical"

Pharisaical is the altered state that you get into when you have been exercising continuously for several hours....it's almost like having an out of body experience and this Pharisaical state is usually only experienced by superfit athletes such as those that get selected to represent their countries at the Olympics and Commonwealth Games.....needless to say I myself have never experienced a Pharisaical state and am never likely to.

(...following on from vicki b....)

i felt extremely pharasaical after concentrating so hard on growing my moustache. despite four weeks effort and the fact that no one could see if past 3 metres, i felt the euphoria of having competed hard.

Pharisaical is when you step out of bounds or when you are saying something that is not your place or your business.

Monica made a pharisaical comment to her co-worker about her boyfriend. Monica thought he was too immature and would end up breaking her heart. Ever since, Mary remained aloof towards Monica.

To be pharisaical is to be sarcastic.
