Popliteal

Popliteal refers to the hollow at the back of the knee. So says my esteemed lexicon. Your invented meanings were well thought out and v. interesting. Thanks for taking the time to play the game. I'm always glad to have your company. The voters liked Raelha's meaning today. Great work, Raelha.

Popliteal refers to the ill-advised attempts of older people to appeal to young people by "talking their language".

Ageing politicians disco-dancing is a classic example of popliteal behaviour.

Popliteal (adj) refers to the coining of phrases/terms from popular literature and susbsequent interspersing of them into conversation.

Annoying popliteal habits would have to include the spoken use of "v" instead of very (for which we can blame Bridget Jones) and the employment (in all seriousness) any magical term from Harry Potter to refer people/events in the real world.

A Popliteal is a small semi-aquatic duck-like mammal, related to the Platypus. It makes little bubbling and popping noises as it swims along in order to keep its 'ducklings' in tow.

popliteal - 1) a classification of bioluminescent creatures, 2) electric lights which respond to sound

Little Jimmy stood by the shore clapping until his hands were bright red, and he could clap no more. He was disappointed when the brine shrimp did not respond to sound like the popliteal lamp in his bedroom.

It's always harder when one knows the real meaning isn't it?

Popliteal is a kind of fabric and the latest craze in dance wear, highly popular at music festivals. It's very much like bubble wrap only comes in a variety of fluorescent colours. People have enormous fun popping each other's bubbles on the dance floor, the sound of which adds to the overall percussive effect of the music.

Hmmm. I think this is the perfect adjective for an expert or celebrity who starts pontificating about subjects that are evidently outside their remit, such as most politicians trying to talk about science, and vice versa.

Popliteal-Well known defense for murder in Texas.
"Judi went into eye bugging, gasket blowing, hair tearing, apoplectic rage when she found out about the number of women her husband had been romancing during the weeks she was suffering in the hospital. At her trial, a sympathetic jury acquitted her on the basis of her popliteal mental condition."
