Canorous

Canorous means melodious. Quite simple really. Your invented meanings were far more complicated, as I like them to be. And congratulations to Chris. Her very funny invented meaning took a well deserved 50 per cent of the votes on the poll. Great stuff.

Canorous (adj) describes those people who, when in a bad mood, will snap and growl at you. Felinous, on the other hand, relates to those who ignore you all together.

This is a word from the 'can/can't/won't' do family. Those annoying people who are brilliant at anything they do are known as canorous types. Conversely, those who are lousey at any task fall into the canterous category and those who just like to be awkward are just plain cantankerous.

Felines are, of course, catankerous.

Canorous describes what happens to food stored in tins in the fridge due to a lazy inability to transfer it to a suitable container.
'Yeuck. Throw those baked beans away, George. They've gone all canorous.'

A canorous person has the ability to cook, but chooses instead to buy only canned foods. Canorous people like to brag about their latest "creations" using only canned foods.
Becky is so canorous. Did you hear her going on and on about her "open the can, throw it in the pan" soup recipe?

Canorous (adj) is a term used by barristers to describe a judge who has a tendency to impose more severe punishments than usual. It dates back to public school days of teachers who overused the cane.

"I'm afraid that with an unsympathetic jury and a canerous judge, you might be looking at 5 years."

Canerous describes the behaviour of stags during the rutting season, i.e. loud, showy, aggressive, smelly, full of themselves and generallly strutting about. Hmm. Not much difference of any male around the female of the species.

A conorous is some one who pretends to be thankful who is really not . Every once in a while I have to be a conorous and pretend on my birthday that like something that I realy don't. It doesn't happen very often though.

Canorous refers to a comedy show so poor that only canned laughs could ever be used, never live ones.

Before canes had rubber feet, they had steel tips, and made noise, usually. Depending on the surface of the floor, the noise might be loud, or ticky, or thuddy. But "canorous" refers to the sound made of a cane on a floor. (Nowadays, they're all stealth canes.)

canorous (adj)- feeling the need to always talk like they're shouting. Talking in a normal voice feels like whispering to them. Canorous people are frequently headache-inducing.

Canorous folk are those who, like all your contributors, are able to do things that others do not attempt for fear of failure. I love canorous people - so positive and vibrant.
P.S. Not sure I want to look in Magdalene's fridge !

Canorous is a word used to describe shutterbugs who just have to take a picture of anything and everything. It's like a habit. Derived from Canon cameras.

"Oh, look at that!" The canorous mother whipped out her digital camera to snap pictures of the baby sleeping on the puppy's chest, walking around in angles to see which shot would be best.
