Lixiviate
To lixiviate something is to separate it into soluble and insoluble parts by percolation in water. I never was that great at science, sorry. I know that definition will make a lot of sense to most of you, though. I rather liked the invented meanings today. Good to see some new faces and the return of some familiar ones. And well done to Brian O Vretanos - who is the winner on the poll today. Great work again, Brian.

lixiviate (v)- to pepper something said or written with long and important-sounding words, just to make it sound more impressive.
i.e.
"So, what exactly is your plan?" someone asked.
"But of course, my marvelous disposition is to exalt joviation in the bureau and thus enrich overarching fabrication," Jim lixiviated. The room instantly burst into applause, because even though they had even less idea what Jim had just said than Jim himself did, it sounded quite grand and weighty.
Lixiviate:
To forgive someone for taking the last asprin after you had just told them your head ached.
To lixiviate is to drone on and on and on in excruciating detail about a subject nobody else cares anything about. Bloviators use broad strokes; lixiviators revel in minutia.
Lixiviate - that's easy. It's what we cats do. When we're having a good old wash, sometimes we pause mid lick forgetting that our tongue is still sticking out. Makes us look a bit stupid, I know.
'With a full tummy, Tom was washing his back drum stick when he had an interesting thought and lixiviated for a moment.'

LIXIVIATE (v) - To announce the date that a film or TV program was made by reading the Roman numerals in the credits. Apparently some people find this annoying ;-)
To lixiviate (vb) is to drool at the sight of food you can't have.
Example: Despite the boys digging deep into their pockets, the grand total of ninepence found within was not enough to buy the bar of Splendiferous Chocolate Creme. Instead, they had no option but to gaze, foreheads against the glass of the shop window, and lixiviate over their heart's desire.
Lixiviate is a back alley word or maybe better said, a slang street term meaning "taking a punch or two to get just one good one in." i.e. Take a "whippin" but keep on "tickin"! Simply stated, take some "lix" to "iviate" a foe!
Raelha almost got the definition of lixiviate correct; it is to drool but sadly not in anticipation. It is a symptom of the disease feliniscratchus caused by being scratched or bitten by a domestic cat that has recently itself been bitten by a particular flea - Lixivia lixivia.
Lixiviate means to melt and dribble
Thinks! the cat was always happy when baby Georgie was given an ice-cream as it meant that he could sit and lap up the drips as they lixivated down.
