Haplography

Haplography is weird. It's the mistake of writing something once when it should be written twice. The example given in my dictionary is writing philogy instead of philology. Philology, by the way, is the science of language. There you go, two meanings for the price of one! Organic Mama was the winner on the poll today. Well done! I loved your meaning.

Hello, I'm new to this so please forgive any etiquette breaches and tell me about them so I don't do it again! I think Haplography is the study of people who are a bit unlucky or indeed hapless.

Haplography is the science of measuring the incidence of falls in the lifetime of a flat footed person who is prone to falling often as I am .

The syndrome is normally called haploggia in medical terms

Haploggia is measured by a device as small as a pen drive which you clamp on to your ankles with gel and you need to plug it to an USB port to get a haplograph .

Haplography measures a person's happiness by the glow that is radiating from a happy person.

On the most haplographs, it shows that brides "glow" much more than pregnant women.

Haplography is the science of tracking vital people, such as absent-minded genuises/scientists/professors, who are frequently haplessly, hopelessly lost. The government tracks these individuals through computer chip and GPS technology and can geographically, haplographically locate them easily.

It's not commonly known, but the high-pitched, nearly-inaudible-to-human-ears squeak that a bat makes to determine its whereabouts is called a "haplo." Hence, hapolography is the study of bat sounds.

Haplography, which comes from the Egyptian, is the study of Elvis mythology.

Haplographers remain divided about why so many people still believe The King is alive.

Haplography is the singing of film or TV titles to theme music.

Who can't resist singing 'Superman' at the end of the music.

Not really any etiquette rules that I know of. Some people make their invented meaning look like the meaning in a dictionary. Others add a sentence using the word in context. Some just give a simple definition. Some go into detail. It's just whatever seems right for the word at the time. Some people mention other meanings that they really like. You can do any or all of the above! Thanks for joining in. The more the merrier. Have fun.

Haplography is the study of laughter in the human body. Specificly, haplography tracks the impulse from the brain, through the neural pathways down through each individual muscle involved in laughter. Haplogrophers make maps of these pathways that look somewhat like topographical maps.

Haplography is the study of people who are addicted to buying lottery tickets or entering competitions. Anyway, must go and check the Instant Kiwi Scratchies my husband bought me yesterday while he was checking our Lotto tickets.

It's a little known fact that halo used to have a silent "p" so it was originally spelled "haplo". The silent "p" fell into disuse, but the study of halos, haplography, still retains the "p" which is, in this instance, pronounced.
