Geminate

To geminate is to arrange things in pairs. Some of the word imps got the "gemini" connection there. The meaning put forward by Haberman's Habits was chosen by voters as the best today. Well done, HH.

A Geminate is someone who dresses to look like Gem or one of the misfits (Gem is a cartoon from the 80's). Geminates are noted for wearing funky clothes, ripped denim especially, and have hot poink or purple hair. They wear one lace glove and one leather one, and carry around a wireless microphone in case of emergency karaoke sessions.

It's easiest to describe geminate in terms of a similar word, ruminate. To ruminate is to chew the cud, and it's what an animal known as a ruminant (ie, a cow) does.

Thus, to geminate is what a geminant does. A geminant is an animal such as a snake that eats other animals, alive and whole.

Not many people have the stomach to watch a snake geminate, which is the main reason not many are kept as pets.

To geminate is to create an uncut gem into a marquis, tear-drop, round, and other shapes with any number of carats or facets.

The jeweler stares at an uncut diamond with hardly any flaws. He stared at it much like an artist would at a blank canvas to get some inspiration of what to create.

to geminiate is to divide into two identical parts (as in Gemini - the twins)

Mothers often become adept at geminating cookies, slices of cake, and other tasty treats that their children crave...

To geminate is similar to crystallise, except that it describes the formation of gems.

To geminate is when two people born under the star sign of Gemini get together and have a baby and that baby is born under the star sign of Gemini. Suprageminate happens in only 39 000 births. This is when geminates have twins born under the Gemini star sign.
