Have fun with a new word each day. I'll choose a word. You make up a meaning.

Cachinnate
To cachinnate actually means to laugh loudly. I do it often - particularly when I'm on holiday with my sisters which I have been for the last couple of days. Thanks for the inventive meanings. The Mad Fishicist was today's winner. Good work, TMF.
To cacchinate is the skill of catching food in your mouth.
"one of the children's favourite games was throwing peanuts into each other's mouths. Fred was better at a cacchinating than Tom, but eventually this game was stopped by their mother who was concerned about the risk of choking"
Cachinnate means eliminating your cache. The girls like to play Club Penguin (a website for kids to play-just google Club Penquin) and sometimes I need to check something-open another page. Then when I am done, I close it. But then the cache has to be removed.
Cachinnate is one of those words that doesn't sound like it's meaning suggests. It's actually a compound fracture of a bone of the extremities -- arm or leg bones.
After crashing into a tree while learning to ski, Buffy underwent several surgeries to pin the cachinnates in her tiba and ulna. She is expected to make a full recovery but doesn't intend to pursue skiing as a hobby.
Cacchinate - verb Securing sinkers, weights and jigs on fishing line at a length away from bait and hook.
"Fred habitually forgot to cacchinate his lead shot sinkers so his fly always dragged along the bottom of the river instead of imitating an egg sucking leech."
To The Chindo: don't worry too much about spelling mistakes. That was a particularly tricky one to get right. At least you'll remember it now if you're ever in a Spelling Bee.
1. I choose an obscure dictionary word.
2. You invent a wacky meaning and add it as a comment.
3. After a certain time I list the true meaning and choose a winner for the invented meaning.
There are no prizes, just lots of fun!
Remember, children use this site too.
I am a children's author who has had a handful of books published by trade publishers. They're in book shops and libraries. I've also had a sackful of books published by educational publishers. These are mainly found in schools. I love words and that's why I invented this blog site.

rhymes with passionate: an adjective describing a natural tendency to hoard food.

Here's a new definition:
Cachinnate: verb
To arrogantly claim grammatical expertise while ignorantly missing the little things like spelling.
"The Chindo has a tendency to cachinnate, so when he misspelled 'cachinate', it came as no surprise to anyone but him."
Cachinnate is what your dad does when he sings along to a song but only knows the last bit of the line.
We all think we know the words to a song but if we have to sing the song by ourselves we often find we can only cachinnate.
I guess those X factor judges must have heard their fair share of cachinnates.
