Morganatic
Morganatic actually described a type of marriage. It was the kind where the man was of higher rank than the woman (whatever that means), and where the woman didn't rise to the rank of her husband as a result of the union. Therefore, the children couldn't claim the possessions or title of their father. Odd. Obviously something from days gone by. I hope that means something to someone. Raelha's invented meaning was enjoyed by many and she is the official winner for the day. Congratulations, Raelha!

Morganatic describes people who are not early risers but who, for one reason or another, are forced to get out of bed early. A morganatic's behaviour mostly includes grunting incoherently at other members of the household whilst staggering to the bathroom and/or kitchen to make that essential cup of coffee. At the top of their pet hates list, you'll always find the alarm clock.
The opposite of morganatic is nachanatic. A person who always falls asleep on the sofa half-way through the evening film and wakes up just as it's ending wanting to know exactly what they've missed is nachantic.
Morgantic describes a yo-yo dieter. This month they weigh so much, this time last year they could fit the jeans they wore 10 years ago...
It's a description for people who like to pretend they have a sinister side, in order to impress others (whether friends or total strangers). Often it turns out that the worst thing they've ever done is cast a particularly wicked spell while playing Dungeons and Dragons.
Morgantic:
This is a phase where young children try using swear words just to shock people.
The mother recovered from her morganitc child's outburst. "You keep that up, young man, and I'll wash your mouth out with soap!"
Ok, I'll bite. Morganatic is the state of a person who's strongly influenced by rum, specifically rum with a pirate captain on the label. If they enter this state too often, they quickly become a morganaddict.
That one was too good aviva!
Morganatic or more correctly m'organatic, refers to the peculiar howling behavioural state that most dogs are reduced to upon hearing the sound of a harmonica or mouth organ as they're more commonly known.
Wow! You people are clever! I really enjoy checking this site each day to see how creative everyone can get and to get a good laugh.
Morganatic is someone who is irritatingly fanatical about the Morgan horse breed.
Morganatic is an adjective meaning to be witch-like.
This word originally described Morgan le Fey one of King Aurthur's lovers and who eventually killed him with a curse and then went on to seduce Merlin.
A morganatic is a place found in the upper parts of some dwellings that is used to store no-longer-used keyboard instruments called "mood organs".
Morganatic:
A person who insist on more organization to the point of being a fanatic.
rythmic hair brushing.
A morganatic is a person with an unhealthy preoccupation with the state of their organs. A morganatic by proxy would be similarly concerned about other people's organs.
Daisey slumped in the chair and said, "My bowels feel rather loose this morning, but I expect it is because my queasy stomach, throbbing heart and ringing ears have unsettled me," moaned Daisey. "I expect your bladder's playing up too isn't it, Fred?"
Morganatic is a contraction of "Morgan fanatic" (is there a posh term for that kind of word???), and refers to someone who is obsessed with old sports cars.
Morganatics can be found at rallys and other driving events, but more commonly at the roadside waiting for their breakdown service.
Someone with a morbid fear of all things death related.
"Harry changed course and drove past Forest Lawn Memorial Park, sporting a slight smirk. His wife Clarissa, a chronic morganatic, clutched her head with both hands,
her eyes taking on a morganiacle gleam as she vainly struggled to choke back her screams."
Morganatic: Obsession with comfortable chairs.
In the 1920's a gentleman named Morgan created an overstuffed chair. Never before had anyone manufactured such a comfy chair. Soon the "Morgan Chair" took off and families would gather around Dad comfortably seated in the family "Morgan" and listen to Orson Wells and Amos and Andy on their brand new radios. Eventually televisions replaced radios and the Morgan became a recliner. Then televisions came with remote controls and men became moronic and obsessed with their Morgan and their Remote--You see, it's all very Morgonatic!
(I'm too lazy to sign in)
morganatic (adj)- obsessed with pirates, especially their accents.
That's interesting - when you put up the real meaning I suddenly realised where I'd seen the word before - in One, Two, Buckle My Shoe by Agatha Christie. The murderer, who had committed bigamy, used the word to describe his first marriage, which was for love, whereas the second was for financial gain. I took it at the time simply to mean a marriage that ignores material circumstances, but the actual meaning gives a new idea as to the killer's character and level of arrogance. So thanks for the education, Word Imp. :-)
Raelha, you must know me and my husband! I'm the morganatic, he's the nachanatic and you have captured us perfectly. You have my vote!
