Toccata

A toccata is described in my dictionary as a rapid, brilliant composition for piano or organ. So not a tasty morsel after all. Anyway, the word imps have done their bit as usual and the voters have had their say. The winner is Realityjunkie. Great work, RJ.

Toccata is a Yiddish word that refers to any unusual, often hoity-toity, kitchen tool that no one knows the correct name for.

"I need to carve this radish into a rose -- hand me that toccata over there."

A Toccata is a song sung by a potential suitor underneath the window of the woman he is trying to woo. This Toccata is often very painful to listen to as sometimes the suitors can't sing very well, a bit like watching American Idol auditions actually, however, the feeling and meaning behind the Toccata being sung is usually enough to win the woman over.

Toccata is a light shade of brown.

Shelby rummaged through a large boz of crayons. Her mom noticed that she was digging around. "What are you looking for?" she asks.

"I can't find Toccata. It's a brownish color."

The mother inwardly sighs. How many shades of colors do we need?

Toccata is the sound a mother makes when she is so disappointed with her children that she can't speak. Toccata usually consists of the clicking of the tongue and a long sigh and is almost always followed by the shaking of the head.
