Storax
Oddly enough, storax is quite different indeed from any of the invented meanings of our dedicated and creative word imps. In fact, it is rather ordinary. Storax is a tree which has a vanilla scented resin named after it. Storax was used for medicine and perfume in times gone by. That aside, the invented meanings were top of the charts today. I'm impressed! We had a tie for the win again today, with Hey Jude and Sophie doing equally well. Great work ladies!

It is a kind of computer virus 'the storax virus' which deletes all the documents with the words 'store' or 'ax' in.
Storax is a brand name, and if it wasn't for Tupperware, would be a world-wide household name, just as Tupperware is. Due to a long and complicated story, too involved to go into here, if it wasn't for an unfortunate incident back in the summer of 1947, all our pantries and kitchen cupboards would be filled with Storax, and Tupperware wouldn't even be heard of.
The storax is a large South American bird that builds it's nest entirely from unusual items it has found. Instead of the usual leaves and twigs, storax nests have been found to include newspaper, bottle caps, small items of clothing and cigarette butts.

Any lower and the glass is likely to wobble and spill some of the fizzy nectar.
Examiners push a storax wedge in between the student's hand and the top of the storax to check that the distance is correct, and "waiter's friend" style bottle openers are exactly half an inch wide for the same reason.
Your storax is that un-pinpoint-able spot in your brain that practically attracts headaches. The next time the doctor asks you "where" your headache is, answer, "Right in the middle of my storax."

Storax is the brand name for various size leather holders for small axes and hammers. The holders are meant to be worn on a tool belt, which is also available from the manufacturer.
