Ticpolonga
A ticpolonga isn't as nice as it sounds. It's a venomous Indian serpent. Also found in Sri Lanka. Your meanings were much more manageable. Well done to Magdalene, with a win on the poll today. Great work!
A ticpolonga is a Carribbean percussion instrument which often accompanies steel drum bands. It originated as a hollowed-out branch with one narrow end and one wider. The narrow end makes a sharp sound when struck, while the other end provides a deeper echoing sound.

Ticpolonga is a game played by a Bantu tribe in Africa in which wooden balls are hit by wooden mallets through a series of small reed arches. If this sounds a lot like croquet, it may be because a lost Englishman stayed with the tribe for a few years.

Ticpolonga is an unfortunate affliction very similar to Tourettes syndrome. It manifests as uncontrollable twitching and hopping from one leg to the other and an irresistible urge to yell POLONGA!! in public places.
1. I choose an obscure dictionary word.
2. You invent a wacky meaning and add it as a comment.
3. After a certain time I list the true meaning and choose a winner for the invented meaning.
There are no prizes, just lots of fun!
Remember, children use this site too.
I am a children's author who has had a handful of books published by trade publishers. They're in book shops and libraries. I've also had a sackful of books published by educational publishers. These are mainly found in schools. I love words and that's why I invented this blog site.

It's a little-known Latin American dance, with such complex movements that it is rumoured to be the inspiration for the Twister game.
