Idiopathy

Idiopathy refers to a disease without any known cause. I suspect it's closely related to hypochondria but not sure if the medical fraternity would agree. Your creative meanings were on the ball as always. Very enjoyable. And well done to Lydia B for her win on the poll. Keep 'em coming, Lydia.

If you're unfortunate enough to have to visit a hospital for any reason and, whilst reduced to reading OK magazine awaiting your appointment, a specialist doctor wearing sunglasses stumbles past with his stethoscope hanging down his back singing a George Formby ditty, you're probably in the idiopathy department. Best to stick your thumbs in your ears, waggle your fingers and stick your tongue out....you'll get a clean bill of health!

An idiopathscope measures the degree of insanity, so idiopathy is the science of measuring insanity.

Idiopathy : The act of behaving in complete seriousness like you have some form of "special power" such as telekenesis, telepathy, communing with the dead, etc etc. yet when asked to demonstrate said power, you blatently cannot do it and are making it up!

Despite all evidence to the contrary the "Idiopath" still insists that they have the amazing power, and will continue attempting to demonstrate their skill without success.

An idiopathy is a surgical operation performed on retired clowns and comedians who have trouble taming some of their more silly behaviour when in public.

It's the inability to finish a phrase or sentence correctly, sometimes with interesting results. For example, "A bird in the hand is worth two in the microwave."

Idiopathy is a super-develop "Id" as formulated by Dr. Freud. It takes over to the point that very few other considerations of the psyche are met. Society today runs rampant with idiopaths according highly respected authorities in selfishness. The cure comes from within but is seldom found except in dire circumstances.

Edited quote:
"The id wants whatever feels good at the time, with no consideration for the reality of the situation.
The id doesn't care about reality, about the needs of anyone else, only its own satisfaction. When the id wants something, nothing else is important."

Idiopathy was a not so famous, wonderful, caring and adventurous explorer in the 14 hundreds who found a giant farm of kangaroos, chickens, cows and much more, run by two old couples just south of Otjiwarongo, Nambia, Africa. It was not so fun to watch these old couples struggle in there work, so Ida ( as they called her for short ) helped as much as she could. Though Ida was not a doctor, eventually one of the older men got sick and suffered with diptheria, a terible flu. Saddly, not much could be done to heal this man from his troubles, though there was little, so what there was, Ida did it. After just one month of desperation and working hard to heal ... he healed. In Ida's honer, his happy wife and friends named the farm after her, Idiopathia.

As everyone knows intelligence and common sense tend to be in inverse proportion. The recent developed science of Idiopathy is an advanced medical technique of increasing a person's IQ by surgically removing the common sense cells from the brain.
