Penannular

The dictionary meaning of pennanular is "almost ring-like" which actually doesn't help a lot. I think I'll stick with made up meanings for words. It seems a lot simpler and far more interesting. Eve's Lungs invented the meaning which gained the most votes. Well done!

Penannular n. - the name of the annual industry publication on ink-filled writing utensils. Once written only companywide by and for Bic, Parker Pens and Sharpie got in on the act in the 60s and 80s respectively when they saw the great importance of the trade magazine.

Pennanular describes a person who is obsessed with getting things right and being seen to behave in the correct way.

Maud was a pennanular woman. She was mortified to find that her husband had served gravy in the cream jug. She didn't sleep for several nights following the incident, worrying about what her guests must think of her. Her husband on the other hand didn't have a clue what all the fuss was about.

It is a pen invented by Moebius that has neither a beginning nor an end. It is hard to write with, but at least you can never lose the lid.
