Have fun with a new word each day. I'll choose a word. You make up a meaning.

Bastinado
Bastinado is terrible! It's punishment done by caning the soles of the feet! That's a word none of us needs to know, I'm sure. Albow's reference to pig dancing was a hit with the voters. Well done, Albow.
Bastinado was a car that was never released to the public because it was so big and so ugly that the company worried their reputation would be tarnished. they never had a design a car contest after that.
bastinado is one of those "cleaned up" curse words that parents use around their children. When Dad accidentally hits his thumb with the hammer, he yells "Bastinado!" -- it packs a little more punch than "oh, Bunnies!", which is what my English step-mother used to say.
Bastinado is an uninhabited rocky island just off the coast of Mexico. People have always believed that nothing would grow there due to the island being poisonous, but scientists are about to conduct a study of Bastinado because they believe something is living on the island...
I think my husband and I drove a Bastinado when we first got married, back in the day...
I usually only give a definition if the word "inspires" me, which this one did. That is, it did until I read yours truly b's (my friend of more than 20 years) definition. My sides hurt from laughing and now all my cretive juices have disappeared.
Bastinado is a really famous and hunky Mexican actor. Not many people outside of Mexico have heard of him, but if you mention his name in Mexico, women swoon and have to fan themselves with whatever they can get their hands on, he is that gorgeous. He is really rich and lives on a sprawling ranch just outside of Netzahualcoyotl, when he's not on location making movies. He almost died once when he got bitten by a snake in the desert.
1. I choose an obscure dictionary word.
2. You invent a wacky meaning and add it as a comment.
3. After a certain time I list the true meaning and choose a winner for the invented meaning.
There are no prizes, just lots of fun!
Remember, children use this site too.
I am a children's author who has had a handful of books published by trade publishers. They're in book shops and libraries. I've also had a sackful of books published by educational publishers. These are mainly found in schools. I love words and that's why I invented this blog site.

A bastinado is a pig dancing ceremony. As long as the pigs dance, they're okay. If they don't dance... bacon!
