Caprification
Caprification is actually nothing to do with caps or hats, funnily enough. It's far more interesting. Caprification is making figs ripen more quickly by subjecting them to the puncture of wild fig gall insects. Make sense to anyone? So there you go. It's holiday time and we're still learning something new. Sonnjea's meaning was chosen by the voters today. It was a close race though - even stevens right up to the last vote. Well done, Sonnjea.

Caprifaction is the term for when you wear a hat or cap, and it squishes your hair style into a helmet-shaped mess, and then you have to take off your hat because you're at a restaurant and you look ridiculous.
Her chic look was spoiled by the caprifaction.
Caprification is the process of "fixing" up old worn out caps. People instead of throwing their caps away they send them to the Caprification plant to get repaired and made as good as new. if you look at the tags closely you will see this cap came from the caprification plant.
My thoughts are similar to Sonnjea's and Yours Truly.
Caprification preserves your hat for life. When a new cap is bought, it is put in a special machine much like a lamination machine. Only you don't see the plastic coating. The hat is always good as new. It is also dirt-proof and waterproof. It just washes off.
Caprification was first used to describe the tan lines acquired by wearing capri pants. It is now used to encompass any clothing based tan lines.
After her first year as a dive instructor Madame C's caprification made her look as if she was wearing a pale pink bikini.
Thanks sonnjea b...I work in an operating room and at the end of the day when I take my surgical hat off I always have terrible "helmet hair" but from now on I will complain about my caprification! Caprification is in fact a fairly new word. It describes anything you do to impersonate Leonardo de Caprio. The most obvious one is when you stand on the bow of a ship in the position he did in the movie Titanic. (Or was that Kate Winslett? In which case that would be a winslettfication). The other obvious one is getting up to hanky panky in a car on a ferry.
Caprifaction is when milliners(hat maker)goes mad. Usually cause by mercury poisoning or dealing with very posh ladies all the time.
Caprification is when food freezes in the refrigerator. It caused by the temperature being too low. Just yesterday I threw out a package of caprified mushrooms.
Caprification is the name that is given when teenage girls develop crushes on older boys. They all usually caprificate over the same boy, and spend long evenings discussing his gorgeousness.
