Abbacy

An abbacy is the office of an abbot. Today's range of ideas was impressive. Thanks again for visiting and being part of the game. Aviva won a close battle on the poll. Well done, Aviva.

Abbacy is an addiction to the band Abba. We who have abbacy find ourselves humming "dancing queen" at inopportune times, like in church or the doctors' waiting room.
P.S. I love Abba

Abbacy (n) is the name for a system of government by monks.

Laws passed under an abbacy many include rising at 4am for some serious meditation, eating gruel for breakfast and several days of committed silence a month. On the plus side the brewing of extra-strong ale is always welcomed.

Abbacy is a psychotic illness which drives young folk into dressing like members of the group Abba.
If unchecked, the patients start to strum at an imaginary guitar, for so long that they acquire a characteristic 'right-handed guitarist' posture.

Abbacy is the little known sppech impediment that prevents children from completing the alphabet out loud.

They get as far as A, B, C then they suffer an attack of crippling nerves and clam up.

Treatment is most successful if abbacy is identified and speech therapy started prior to the child starting school.

or could be a typing impediment, should of course be 'speech'

Abbacy is the medical way
to describe the sad curse
of speaking only in verse
with a rhyme scheme of A/B/B/A

Yes, Abbacy is a lesser known word
for the above-mentioned plight
which can last a whole night.
It's more often called Curse of the Nerd.

Ex. Whew. That took a while. My Abbacy was really acting up.

Abbacy-A society group of women whose names are Abby (Abigail). The get-together once a month, swap recipes, talk about family, and choose a group to sponsor, such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, Girl Scouts, Lion's Club, etc., and have fund-raisers so they can donate to their chosen group.

Most Abbys have named their daughters Abby (Lil' Abby for short) or have nieces and cousins with the same name.

There are many Abbacy chapters worldwide. The only requirement to join is having the name "Abby".

What few people know is that Abbacy is actually pronounced Ah-bah-chee.
It is an ancient Wok used to cook Asian food on the battle field.

Abbacy n. An action or state characteristic of the buffoon in a comic duo. [After William "Bud" Abbott, American comedian.]

Would Dean Martin have been as splenius without the abbacy of Jerry Lewis?

P.S. Thanks for the nomination! Remember, if you vote for me, I will not raise your taxes.

Abbacy (n.) - This is used to describe a language without a fully developed system of counting, often just having 1, 2 and "many" (rare these days). [ from "a" and "base" as in no (number) base]

bee: Now you've got me wondering how a battle ready wok might differ from a normal one - did it double as a helmet or a shield???

Abbacy - A legal term similar in meaning to leniency and mercy but applied when the object or person claiming such forgiveness has admitted being in the wrong and has since seen the error of their ways.

Ie. "Your honour - My client has fully co-operated with all lawful parties and would like, at this time, to ask for abbacy in this matter and hope that the jury take this and these other fifty or so prior offences into consideration. My client is a changed man as you can all see and promises to be a good honest citizen from this day forward."

Abbacy (n)- the state of being knowledgeable to the point it's almost annoying to others.

i.e. He had been so full of abbacy since going to the university, correcting everyone, with an obscure wise quote for every occasion, hardly anyone could stand him anymore.

Abbacy is the obsession with working out and strengthening the abdominal muscles, to the exclusion of everything else.

Fernando's abbacy is totally out of hand; he has a six-pack belly in a 98-pound weakling's body.
