Have fun with a new word each day. I'll choose a word. You make up a meaning.

Repique
A repique is part of a card game called piquet. I think it's when you win 30 points before you've even started playing. Something like that anyway. What a fabulous array of invented meanings! Well done to you all - especially the winner, Raelha. Well done, Raelha.
Repique -In the days of yore before computers and the internet, there used to be a breed of door to door salesmen whose sole aim in life was to convince mothers and fathers that they should have a set of encyclopaedias as a source of knowledge and reference for their children. These sets were very expensive, very heavy, a major family investment and were only purchased if the salesman was good at convincing the customer that they were worth the money. Thus, not only did he need a strong arm to carry the books but also a keen mind to answer questions; i.e. a high IQ. A successful salesman was said to have a high rep-ique.
Repique (v.t.) To sustain an injury in the same place as one that hasn't yet healed.
This is actually a fencing term - fencers sometimes get nicks, maybe where the rapier rubs a spot, or where there is a hole in their suit, and it is not uncommon for these cuts to get reopened regularly. DIY'ers also frequently suffer from this sort of thing. Lightening never strikes twice, but hammers do!
Repique is a game a bit like croquet, except instead of mallets you have something that looks like a lacrosse stick. This is used to 'hook' the balls over the hoops instead of under them.
Repique is the fractious and frustrated mindset, (beyond anger, a short way before utter despair) one gets into when one still can't find ones (eg) keys though the whole of the previous day was spent looking for them.
Twice-piqued. Can't do the French accents, but my granny used to say, when someone was looking pale and vaguely sick, that she looked "piqued," with two syllable (PEEK-ed). Repique looks like a relapse of that, or twice as bad.
Repique: a series of extremely hot days, in other words a heat wave. Something similar to what California is experiencing right about now. I really wish this repique would end. Without air conditioning, im baking inside my house!
A repique is a reporting beat covered by journalists, which concerns the state of sudden outburst of anger and repeated tantrums that people throw publicly against each other. Unlike human interest stories, repique stories bring out the dark side of people. e.g.: The repique of cat fights in parliament houses around the world.
Repique is a simplified version of the old card game known as piquet and originated in retirement communities in Florida. Sadly, in some cases, participants took the game too seriously and heart attacks and even fatal shootings were known to have occurred, usually as a result of an inexperienced player discarding the queen of spades at inopportune moment – e.g. leaving their partner stuck with the ace of hearts. Playing repique has been banned for many years but you can always find a game if you know where to look.
Repique (pronounced reh-pi-cue) is the unfortunate experience of realizing that the line-up you've been waiting in is merely the queue for the next line-up, that is of course twice as long as the first.
Ex. When Margaret realized she was waiting in a repique, she decided that renewing her license was just not that important, and immediately left for home.
Repique is when the first or subsequent internet search attempts fail to provide the desired results, and you must try again with a REfined-Pattern-Input-QUEry (use more or different search words).

1. I choose an obscure dictionary word.
2. You invent a wacky meaning and add it as a comment.
3. After a certain time I list the true meaning and choose a winner for the invented meaning.
There are no prizes, just lots of fun!
Remember, children use this site too.
I am a children's author who has had a handful of books published by trade publishers. They're in book shops and libraries. I've also had a sackful of books published by educational publishers. These are mainly found in schools. I love words and that's why I invented this blog site.

Repique:
A recipe passed down thru out the ages from mother to daughter.
It's a very special recipe that punishes wayward husbands by giving them uh... the runs.
