Rubricate

To rubricate something is to mark it with red. So I guess those teachers who love marking school books with copious red pen marks are rubricating. Who knew? Thanks for your answers. They were wonderful. And I'm pleased to report that Lorenzothellama was chosen as today's poll winner. Great work, Lorenzo.

To rubricate (vb) is to give your partner a massage on the understanding that, once finished, s/he will reciprocate in kind.

Unfortunately rubrication is not a common occurence as the beneficiary of the the first massage normally falls asleep before they can undertake massaging duties. It is therefore advisable for the first massager to end his/her session with a good pummelling stroke to ensure the recipitent stays awake long enough to return the favour.

To rubricate is to build something overly large, as if to accommodate someone with outsize proportions. The word is a reference to the artist Rubens and the large bodies in his paintings.
