Frippery

It had to happen. But I didn't expect it to happen so soon. JC's guess at a meaning for frippery was so close to perfect, it was uncanny. The official meaning is unnecessary adornment. So if there were prizes, JC would get the prize for fluking the correct answer. However, today's best entry goes to Vicki.B. who suggested frippery was how a frog might describe a slimy lily pad. Great thinking, Vicki. B. and JC.

Frippery is an adjective used to describe adornments of any kind - on a person, vehicle, object, anything. An example would be a wedding car dressed up with ribbons, dolls, etc. This is frippery.

I think frippery is when you burn toast and the smoke alarm goes off.

Frippery is what a frog says when he hops on to a Lily Pad that's all wet and slimey...."Blimmin Heck, that's frippery!"

I don't have any profound definition here, but I love the idea for this blog! I was entertaining the thought of doing a post on words for my blog...mind if I link to this blog when I get around to it? :)
