Grillage

Grillage describes a wooden frame used as a building foundation on soft earth. That's according to my dictionary. However, your fabulous meanings were much more interesting and I've chosen the invented meaning from Scriptor Senex as my fave today. Here's his suggestion: "Grillage is that which happens when an amateur attempts to barbecue sausages. It derives from the words grill and pillage and the results are usually inedible."

Thanks for your contributions and sorry for my 2 month absence. I was still on earth, just busy moving house and dealing with family issues as well as having a bit of a break. Welcome back!

"Dad moved the Weber into the grillage so that it would not rust in the snow."
Actually, the cover ripped off our grill this past month and we need a grillage to house it!
Enjoy the day!

The Americans believe that they were the originators of the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, however, recent research has shown that the French were the first to invent the Grilled Cheese Sandwich and it was called "The Grillage"

Man, this is so spooky....I just saw a grillage occur on the TV, turned on my computer, and saw grillage was on Word Imperfect! Anyway - grillage is where a bird (usually a seagull, but often a pigeon)is on a cricket pitch, and gets hit by a cricket ball. This just occurred at the WACA, in the Ashes test between England & Australia. It was a seagull, and i am happy to say, it survived the grillage.

Grillage is an ancient Norse term used by the Vikings to describe a certain torture technique. It is too horrid to describe here - you really don't want to know what grillage entrails (oops! that gave the game away - I meant entails).

Grillage describes the technique used by parents to question their teenagers on certain behaviours they have indulged in which has then led to them being grounded.
