Crocidolite

Crocidolite is a yellow mineral produced from a fibrous silicate. My dictionary gives several other chemical/scientific details, which I can't be bothered repeating here. Basically, nothing to do with crocodiles!

Realityjunkie's meaning was the pick of a great bunch this week. Thanks for your fabulous contributions. Here's RJ's suggestion:

Crocidolite is a dermatologic term used to describe a patient with severely dry skin. There are many creams available for these poor eczema ridden people, however, the best treatment is to dampen the skin, rub vaseline or crisco on the skin and occlude the area.

Bit of a regional one here.......

this is a black country term for a person who does not have gainful employment, but continually moans about the lack of privelages and perks that are available to them as a result of their situation.

.... apologies if this makes no sense on an international level, but where I come from ....

Crock : Moaning old so-and-so. (probably derived from the saying "old crock")

Dolite : Someone who really ought to spend more time looking for gainful employment.
(derived from the word dole, (as in "on the dole") meaning unemployed )

though I beleive there is a large lizard repellant also called "crocodolite" which I use regularly and can attest that it works.....
~~well, I have yet to be attacked be a large lizard whilst walking down Birmingham Highstreet yet~~

A crocidolite is an instrument used by Crocodile Vets (more commonly known as Croc Docs). A Crocidolte is a long implement with a light on the end that Croc Docs feed down the throat of Crocodiles (after having been sedated of course!)to investigate the contents of a crocodiles stomach. It is necessary to do this after a Crocodile has eaten something it really shouldn't have, such as a family pet or an unfortunate river side camper.
