Noetic
I can be described as noetic, even though I wasn't aware of it until now. A noetic person is given to intellectual pursuits. It refers to anything related to the intellect. And if anything relates to the intellect, it's this blog. So we're all noetic. Thanks for your noetic invented meanings. The winner on the poll was Yaamyn. Well done, Yaamyn.

I often suffer from noeticism; it's that moment when you've just been admonished for doing something (in my case stretch my claws on the furniture) and you exhibit an involuntary twitch of pricked conscience.
I always get a bit noetic when Ive been told off.

Someone who is noetic has no social graces. So, Word Imp, you were nearly right as nose picking would certainly be an example of a noetic's lack of etiquette.
Noetism was a heresy that flourished briefly in the early days of Christianity before being put down by the Roman Church. There has been a revival of sorts recently leading to the formation of small noetic communities in South California.
'Noetic' is the second-most appropriate term used to describe 'poems', written by lovesick romeos, heartbroken teenagers and anguished middle aged women - which they mistakenly believe are deep and poetic when they clearly are NOT.
Eg. 'Red blood flows in my heart;
Ooh Baby, ooh baby, Ooh baby'
Now, how annoyingly NOetic is that!
P.S. the most appropriate term, of course, is 'Garbage'. :)
When someone ages really well and looks forty when he or she is sixty or seventy, that is noetic. Hair that doesn't grey early is noetic hair.
Noetic is how you describe someone when they're obsessed with thinking they know everything, but they hardly know anything.
A noetic is a catalogue of noses for those wishing to have a nose job.
It's a book of long poems that don't make sense.
Noetic is a stage in life, shared by mothers and young children, around 2 to 3.5yrs of age.
Parents are constantly forced to use the serious NO and children push their side with a discourteous and often whining no.
This is a stage that can reappear as children become teenagers. At this time it is shared almost equally with both parents. I can't wait for this noetic period to finish. :-)
The sing songy way you say "no" for the 100th time.
"no means no, 1000 times no, everytime it is no, no, no."
They Might Be Giants do a great job of singing noetic.
The official language of toddlers
Noetic describes jobs that are not technology jobs. Its pronounced "no-tek" whihc means that anyone can do it. You dont need to be technology savvy to qualify for the job.
" it is a noetic job. I can do it"
noetic is a form of expression in which the narrator "knows all"
Noetic is a description of the times of Noah when God brought judgement on the peoples of the earth through the flood. People were self centered; godless; without sensibilty to what was good.
Noetic became the word to describe any time in history when God was ignored or blasphemed.
Noetic adj. Person addicted to Christmas, particularly the singing of Christmas carols.
Noetic is a term for a person who doesn't really get started on anything until noon (or thereabouts).

"Noetic" is term that relates to a branch of Phonetics.
Though, where phonetics is more concerned with the physical properties of human speech sounds and how we percieve them, Noetic is the science of making grunting, animal or non-sensical sounds and having them perceived as relevant conversation.
Of particular interest to Noetic scientists are :
Men, when conversing with other men down the pub.
Teenagers, both Male and Female.
both seem quite capable of interpreting some meening from what to the untrained ear is simply grunting and murmuring.
Noetic describes the cringe making verses that are written inside Christmas, birthday and Mother's Day cards amongst others. Can you believe that noeticists actually get paid for writing stuff that surely decreases product sales?
Oh no, I thought I posted yesterday but it didn't show up, glad I checked.
So here is my idea for noetic.
A noetic is someone who belives that "if you want something doing properly, do it yourslef."
A noetic will ask you to do something, say go to the insurance company to renew the car insurance.
You go but the insurance company has been eaten by a giant hamster.
The noetic will ask; "did you renew the car insurance?"
You say; "no, what happened was...." and you don't get any further because the noetic has heaved a big sigh, rolled their eyes and said something along the lines of; "Do I have to do EVERYTHING myself?"
Noetic is a term used to describe those who handle the Christmas holiday with style and ease. It is most commonly used with deep feeling and affection.
"You're noetic," said Kathleen to her husband Brain after he hung the last piece of tinsel on the Christmas tree.
"No, you're noetic," said Brain, gesturing toward the tray of Christmas cookies.
"No, YOU are noetic," she responded.
"YOU are," said he.
Someone who is only capable of writing well-crafted notes. Not essays, letters, emails, books...just notes.
