If something is auriferous, it contains gold. Simple as that. This blog for instance, could be described by some as auriferous. I loved the various meanings suggested by the word imps. They were so different and so inventive. However, I had to choose one, which I've done. Well done to Sprite for this auriferous meaning...
I think an auriferous person would be one who is in possession of a tin ear:
"It was truly unfortunate that the children's first introduction to music education was from an auriferous old nun. They carried those tone deaf interpretations of beloved hymns with them through the years."

Poor old Mr Auriferous just couldn't make up his mind about anything. Aurif being a corruption of 'or, if' meaning indecisive.
Auriferous is an adjective describing any rock that glows, but its name is taken from a rock called Aurifer (prounounced are-if-er) that is closely related to azurite. It's unique quality is that it glows. and not just faintly; it glows so brightly you often cannot look directly at it, hence the name, auriferous!
it is the way pirate says IF
Auriferous is the collective noise made by the crowd at an All Blacks game when they have just scored the winning try at the 2011 World Cup final.
