Nuncupate

If I have read my dictionary correctly, to nuncupate is to make a declaration of your last will and testament through the spoken word rather than the written word. Presumably that's like when Auntie Nellie tells little Rita that she'll leave her collection of salt and pepper shakers to her when she dies. I really enjoyed coming back from my holiday to find lots of great meanings on the blog for nuncupate. You've all worked very hard while I was scoring cricket games in the sun. Well done to all of you. And a special congrats to Realityjunkie for a winning meaning on the poll.

To nuncupate is to spend some time in a nunnery just for a holiday, never intending to join the convent.

I think Dawn Treader is correct in proposing one definition of nuncupate but the other is 'to offload youngsters on a favourite uncle for the day to get some peace and quiet'.

Nothing to do with 'nuncupate' but each time I try to post a comment on this blog, I also get a "failed delivery" message in my email Inbox. First couple of times I tried to participate I took that to mean my comment would also not show up here. So I gave up trying... Today I tried again and now I see the comment does show up, but I still got that failure message, which says

"Technical details of permanent failure:
Google tried to deliver your message, but it was rejected by the recipient domain. We recommend contacting the other email provider for further information about the cause of this error. The error that the other server returned was: 554 554 delivery error: dd This user doesn't have a xtra.co.nz account"

(specified account including a name then given)

Nuncupate is a great way of solving the annual problem of what to buy all those older male relatives at christmas. It's a gentleman's hair pomade with an anti-balding ingredient and comes in a lovely old fashioned green glass jar.

A nuncupate is a little bald spot that comes from constant wearing of the habit. One of the little embarrassments of cloistered life that nobody bothers to tell the novices until it's too late.

A nuncupate is a person who constantly complains about their life, never to actually do anything to solve their problems. Very frusterating.
If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got.

Nuncupate means turning something to nothing. It's kind of the opposite of alchemy, which strove to turn lead to gold. Nuncupation turns lead to dust or air.

It was the dead of night. There was no wind and no moon. In short there was nothing to do. "One drink'll do no 'arm?" said the first sailor, and the other two members of the night watch agreed.

One drink would've been fine, but after another, and another, the sailors became increasingly raucous. Suddenly they heard a dreaded noise that sobered them up instantly. The terrible Nuncupating "thumpthump...thumpthump...thumpthump" that heralded the approach of Captain Blackbeard, with murder written on his furious face.

Nuncupate (v. tr) - Make an uneven rhythmic noise, such as the footsteps of someone with a limp, or a wooden leg.

nuncupate-v. to wait to long to write a paper that is currently due.

I tend to nuncupate when I have too much too do at school.

I think this is what a person does if they find themselves in space without adequate protection. Yuck...

I inclination not acquiesce in on it. I regard as polite post. Especially the title attracted me to be familiar with the unscathed story.
