Heddles

Heddles are small cords in a weaving loom. I'm no weaver but, apparently, the warp is passed through the heddles before going through the reed. That's all gobbledygook to me but will probably be transparently obvious to a craft-minded soul. I loved the invented meanings which were, in the main, a lot easier to decipher. Congratulations to "He Might Be Giant" for an intriguing name and a great win on the poll. Drop by again soon.

Heddles - is when a group of people have a secret whispering, discussion about something sensitive. Gathering round in a circle and putting their heads together in a heddle.

Heddles is a dish popular in some coastal Scandinavian areas. It is made up of pickled "off-cuts" from various seafood, and is often served as a garnish.

Outsiders often find heddles a little difficult to stomach. If you find yourself obliged to eat some, just try not to speculate on what the various bits might once have been.

Eeww P.P!
'Heddles' is yet another brand of lotion for the treatment of headlice in children. No, this one doesn't work either.

Heddles are male puddle ducks . (A puddle duck is a duck small enough to fit in a small garden puddle ). The heddle often is smaller than the female puddle duck, but it usally eats more!

Heddles are the unfortunate and uniquely masculine residual drips, drops, and sprays that result from having to stand during bladder elimination.

Wise women have developed an adage that they prominently display near the commode for their nonfemale guests:

"If you heddle when you wettle,
Be a man and clean the can."

Heddles is the place that stressed and exhausted French mothers tell their naughty little children the bogey men live.
"If you don't stop messing with your lovely bone and veg broth, the bogey man will come and get you and take you back to Heddles and you will have to stay there for ever and ever".

(Only in French, of course).

Dancerella is almost right, it does have something to do with male ducks .

A heddle is a group of male ducks waddling in a group to the puddle in a yard.

For examle:
The other night I saw group of heddles and they were all stairing at me on my back porch. And ,wow, were they small!

To heddle is to "hem and haw" around. "I'm not one to meddle," Sylvia snorted, so she just heddled, "I'm not certain, but I'm thinking that perhaps Penelope's skirt is a wee bit short--someone might want to mention it to her? Hmmnnn, maybe it's not exactly too short, perhaps it's just a wee bit tight?"

Heddles are colorful designs that create the illusion of a rainbow when seen through a kalidescope.

A heddle is what is known nowadays as a think tank... i.e. everyone puts their heads together to come up with a good idea which usually turns out to be a complete and utter waste of time. Governments are very good at heddling.

Heddle. From hedonist and noodle, it is a person who is devoted to the pleasure of eating noodles.

I, myself, am not particular enough to be a heddle. I am devoted to the pleasure of eating almost anything.

Sigh.

A heddle is the German word for the toilet or john. That is where sailors got the idea of calling the toilet on a ship "The Head."

(Heddle... Head... see the resemblence in sound, begining of word?)

Heddles n. (also v. To heddle) A failed invention by M. Jacques Henri - designed to propel a bicycle by a complicated mechanism which linked the cyclist's helmet to the rear wheels. Forward motion was created by nodding the head back and forth. M. Henri, better remembered for his self-roasting chickens, died recently when applying the brakes of his bike whilst heddling at a great rate.
