Umbles

Umbles is the edible offal of deer and definitely has a connection with the term humble pie. You'll have to look it up yourself for more information on that as the time of night prevents me from going into any further detail. Well done on a fascinating array of invented meanings. Realityjunkie was back with flying colours today and a big win on the poll. Well done, RJ.

The Umbles is the medievil quarter of the ancient and beautiful town of Dudley in Warwickshire.

The Umbles consist of narrow alleyways, fashionable boutiques, delightful coffee bars and a cosmepolitan way of life.

It is situated snugly between the M5 and M6 motorway.

It's usually grandparents who umble which means to hum some random, unknown melody in an absent minded manner while pottering about. The tune usually takes the form of mmm hum hum hum mmm and is mildly irritating to all within earshot.

A well known umble which has lyrics begins: I know a little song that'll get on your nerves - get on your nerves - get on your nerves. Oh I know a little song that'll....etc.

Umbles are bees which have no sting and consequently have a low survival rate. The exquisite honey they produce is hard to find and considered a delicacy. It is not unknown for unscrupulous vendors to pass off ordinary honey for umble honey. If you want to be sure you are getting the real thing, your best bet is to go to Fortnum & Mason where they sell it at an eye-watering cost

The Umbles are a non-existant criminal family. At one point they were the target of a massive manhunt by the police, who had had a large number of reports of stolen goods being sold by various members of the family. This was all a ruse by the real criminals to draw attention away from themselves.

Nowadays, it's used to mean any nameless crooks. "POLICEMAN: So who did you buy this video off, then? Let me guess, some geezer called Umble?"

Umbles is a word game like Scrabbles, where you make words with randomly picked letters. Each letter has a value to help you score, except the vowel 'U'.
The special feature of this game is, each time you pick alphabet 'U' and link it to a word, you have to say, "Ummmmmm!"
In an 'umble' situation, only the oppenent can award you any number of points if impressed with your way of saying.

Umble is the strong urge to use the bathroom that occurs when a person is really nervous (usually before some sort of public speaking or performance). When a person umbles, they excuse themselves several times to use the restroom. Umbling does not usually work to calm a person down.....I should know :)

Umbles are the ingredients which go into making a dish first documented in feudal societies called umble pie. Umbles consist of whatever marginally eatable leavings the upper class spurns: parings and scrapings, the innards of fish, fowl and game, and other assorted offal. As one can imagine, the offal that's umbles taste awful and smell worse. Variants of this such as chitterlings, headcheese and liver mush, are still eaten today in the rural south-eastern United States

Umbles are short mindless wanderings such as occur when you go into the next room, and forget what you went there for.

Oh yes, and thanks for the votes on smallage!
