Scissel
Scissel is the correct term for metal shavings or any excess metal waste such as the remainder of a metal plate after coins have been punched from it. Those of you who have occasion to be around fragments of metal will now have just the right word for the stuff. Happy to have been of assistance on that one. It turned out that the voters favoured two meanings equally today. So Wunx~ and Silver_flight are joint winners. Congratulations, you two.

To scissel is to suck up to another person in a highly obsequious manner, particularly to someone in a position of authority.
eg: At lunchtimes, Cedric frequently found himself the target for the hurled crusts of other boys sandwiches. His persistent scisseling round the latin master despised by all.
A scissel is a highly ornamental curved sword highly valued by the Nomads of Turkmenistan.
It used to be used for sacrificial killings, before the Nomads joined Greenpeace and became vegetarians.
It's the proper name for that irritating sound made by a metal object scraping on a hard surface, causing instant toothache to anyone unfortunate enough to be in the vicinity.
Scissel - tingling feeling accompanied by a shiver down the spine which only occurs when, as a child, one kisses a whispy hairy faced elderly aunt.
Scissel is the young one of a scissor (just as the cockerel is the young one of a cock). Recent scientific research has showed that the best scissors are like the best brains - sharpened over time. The biggest scissor manufacturers, have, therefore, started manufacturing scissels that grow into scissors.
Scissel is a medicinal concoction made from potato peels, cockroaches, and a healthy portion of rum.
In the 17th century scissel was first created by one of the cooks for a pirate ship in Henry Morgan's buccaneer fleet following the raid on Portabello, Panama in 1668. Henry Morgan made off with the booty deserting his Buccaneers. Caught in the doldrums after being deserted, the crew contracted scurvy - a disease onset by the insufficient intake of vitamin C. The cook discovered sources of vitamin C in potato peels and cockroaches, and concocted scissel as a remedy for the spreading cases of scurvy, thus saving the crew. Later scissel became a staple drink of the privateers. Scurvy was responsible for the reputation of pirates as toothless scoundrels, but scissel certainly was the source of their bad breath.
Pastor Phil: there is NO vitamin C in cockroaches!!
lorenzothellama:
It's the concoction of cockroaches and potatoes that yields vitamin C. You have to obtain the correct chemical reaction between the two substances in order to create the vitamin.
And scisseled is antonym of catalyzed.
Hey Lorenzo,
Shhhhhhhh...you are messing with my tall tale. Cockroaches were a more disgusting creature than rats for drinking. Rats process vitamin C quite well it said, but they've already been used in medeival scrumpy cider.
I've not seen studies on whether cockroaches contain Vitamin C or not, but it sure makes a fun, and disgusting story.
The historic content of my story is not to be confused with truth. Nor should scissel be confused with wassel while carolling at Christmas.
Pastor Phil: I think Duckman got you out of this one!
llamaman,
Tall Tales need no saving. They are are perfect in themselves, but you will find a Vitamin C laden Cockroach on this webpage:

Scissel, pronounced skiz-el, is a specific rhythm and rhyme scheme used in gangsta rap music. This style came to its peak in the 90's with Snoop Dogg and was brought to the attention of the wider American population in 2005 in a Chrysler commercial co-starring Snoop Dogg and Lee Iacocca. "Fo schizzell, I-kazizzle!

Maybe a Scissel could be a natty bit of software for the removal of irrelevant comments on this page! Hmm....Scissel.exe
A Scissel is a blade shaped protrusion from a barrel. Traditionally beer barrels in Austria were made with these at regular intervals so that on its side the barrel could be towed through slow like a sled. This enabled Alpine villages to get their much needed supplies of beer and brandy.
Or orange juice (for feeding cockroaches). Sorry, I just had to!
A scissel is a tool related to a pair of scissors with a knife at the end of the bigger handle that you can slide in to make the tool look like an ordinary pair of scissors. A new model is coming out called the Scissel4U which also has a portable corkscrew and peeler on the other handle. It comes in blue, orange, green, black, arctic white, yellow, pink, or red.
*Every Christmas, there is a limited edition fuchsia color.
P.S. Cool meaning west wickham!
a tool somewhat like a chisel and scissors put together but used for carving soap.
I'm back but from my holidays and excited to once again be part of the fun.
Scisselation: To oscillate between 2 points, but not at a constant rate. The word was coined in 1901 by a physicist, Alfred Brown, who was famous for his studies that explained why scissors take longer to close than to open.
Scissel is the black gunk that accumulates on my best sewing scissor blades even though I would never use my good scissors to cut the sludgy packing tape on a package on a hot day.
