Oxter

Your oxter is your armpit. Who knew? Not me, that's for sure. As always, I enjoyed the meanings contributed by today's participants and particularly those of the joint winners - Haberman's Habits and Molly Malone. Excellent work, both of you.

Oxter is a person who blogs everyday without missing a beat. Those who miss a day or two in-between are called Oxter Level 1 (Oxter-1). Those who blog once a week are called Oxter Level 2 (Oxter-2). And then the ones who post once a month or less are Oxter Level 3 (Oxter-3).

I would rate myself Oxter-1 on one blog, and mostly Oxter on the other blog.

Oxter is an old fashioned word for a pie delivery man, it is also used for the box he carries his pies in.

The children were always excited on Tuesday nights as this was the night the oxter man came.

Oxter N. - an unwritten canon of prayers, poetry and songs written for the bovine, in a common bovine language for worship of the great hay.

"Lizzie was surprised to hear that her ranch-hand cousin believed so deeply in the sacred sentience of the beasts he tended. 'Don't see why you don't think God talks just t'us," he said. 'Besides, if you can worship with a psalter, can't see why cows can't with an oxter!' He then proceeded to bellow an ancient cow call to prayer."

An Oxter won the Grand Prix way back in 1921, driven by Arlain Prieur. It is what a lot of modern day sports cars are based on, particularly the Boxster. Have been a bit of an Oxter-2 of late, but back in the land of civilisation and computers again, so hoping to move up to level 1.
