Cordite

Cordite is an explosive used to make things go bang! Your invented meanings were pretty explosive and I was impressed with the variety and collective wisdom involved. I liked them all, but my favourite was written by Hey Jude. Here's her contribution:

Cordite was the slang nickname given to the Hangman at the gallows, back in the days when people were hanged.

Well, a cordite be a country yokel type who prefers to hold his trousers up with a length of old rope round the waist instead of a belt.
Oh, and thanks for the award for phrenologist...nice to know my sense of humour is still working!

A cordite is a rare, blue, poisonous ice. It is only found deep underneath the surface of the ocean and is slowly covering the entire ocean floor! (Bonus: many types of colorful fish were originally clear or pale pink, but were caught eating cordite, which turn them into the spectacularly coated fish they are today.)
