Rinkhals

Rinkhals is a South African cobra that spits venom. Not something I ever want to encounter, thanks very much. I really enjoyed the invented meanings, as always, and have chosen the meaning suggested by Dasing as today's winner.

Rinkhals has absolutely got to be Indian for wrinkles. It is also related to rinkahalic, someone who is obsessed with wrinkles.

A rinkhal could be any dangerous reptile (alligator, snake, Komodo dragon) made completely out of copper or iron.

Wilhelmus Rinkhals was a Dutchman who lived in the 18th century. He started the worlds first commercial laundry and drycleaning business. His premises were named Wrinkhals, and over time the name became anglicised, and became the word we know of today as wrinkles.
